Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is
known to be associated with cervical cancer and now Chinese researchers have
shown that HPV plays a similar role in the etiology of oesophageal cancer.
According to a study in the Archives of Virology, researchers in Linzhou, Henan, found that
infection with high risk HPV types was the risk for both cervical dysplasia and
oesophageal cancer by four fold.
